Seniorits

As I have previously relayed in some of my blogs, I am currently a senior here at UNCW. This semester is technically my first semester of senior year, and I will be graduating a semester early this coming December. As it sits right now I have ZERO motivation for school.
I am currently finishing up COM 340 which is one of my last two required communication courses. I will be taking 490 in the fall. The rest of my classes I have taken because they look interesting, they look easy, or a combination of the two. Either way, it entirely too nice outside these days for me to have any motivation to go to class or to finish the last little bit of work I have left in each of these classes. It is the worst. I was the exact same way when I was finishing up high school too. My senior year I did not want to do anything once spring semester started.
Next semester doesn’t look like it’s going to be much different for me either. Like I said, my last required COM class is 490 and that will be the only class I am taking in the communication department next semester. Other than 490, which are scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays, I am only taking one other class on campus, which is on Tuesday and Thursday too. To finish out the last part of my required 12 hours before graduation I am taking two online classes in the criminal justice department. I know this seems like such a slack schedule, but I am just ready to be done!

  1. Well, I'm right there with you on the graduating time! I will to be graduating in December! How nice it will be to have the chance to say I accomplished one more thing, on my list of things to do in my life! ha. But, man where did your motivation go, I am more motivated than I have ever been, honestly! I feel like I am at that age and time in my life where things matter, grades matter ALOT, and accomplishing things mean the most! I can't tell you how stressed I have been trying to manage my time without procrastinating. I really want to end up with a wonderful GPA so hopefully one day soon I can at least go to Grad school or law school! Don't give up man; trust me the rewards in the end will be so worth it! Don’t you want to look back one day and remember how hard you worked in school to be at the place you are at that moment! Yes, of course you do. I know I do, and one day hopefully I will have that moment! But, until then all I can do is put forth as much effort as possible! Good Luck with the end of the semester and 490, hopefully it won’t be too bad for us!

  2. I am a little further away from graudation than you are but I think feeling unmotivated is a common bond every UNCW student is feeling right now due to the end of the year and beautiful weather outside. It is hard to keep a positive outlook on finishing school motivated and with strong grades but in the end you'll be happy you did well and tried your best. Sounds lame but it's the comlete truth, Monica's comment above is great and everyone should read and apprecaite it!

  3. I'm right there with you guys. I have ONE credit left to graduate and it is so frustrating. I am walking in May and doing my one credit class this summer online. After being in school for 17 years, i'm over it. I am so tired and so burned out and I cannot wait for graduation to come around.

  4. Dude I feel your pain. Senioritis has his me hard core and I still need to take four courses in the fall! I switched majors so I've basically been trying to catch up and finish as close to on time as possible. I am taking 490 in the summer so during the fall my classes will be primarily video related classes- which I can handle and probably enjoy. I am ready to be done though and it's been a rough semester as far as work load was concerned, I look forward to the one lighter semester at the end. Good luck man!

  5. I don't think I suffer from just Senioritis. I prefer to think of it as "end-of-the-semesteritis." I catch it towards the end of every semester. i just don't want to do anything and am ready to be done with school. Well, I ready to be done with the class part of school. I will miss seeing everyone on a daily basis when everyone graduates and moves away.

  6. No shame there. You have been in school for the better part of two decades. It is only natural to want it to be over. Just enjoy your final semester as a college student and don't take it too seriously. You are almost there!

  7. Caleb I feel the same way now. I have no motivation to finish out senior year. It's not that I don't want to graduate, I'm just tired of going to class and doing work. Hold on Caleb! Be strong Caleb. You only have one more semester : ) Good luck
